Sustainability
Responsibility is our core value
Paahde is committed to reducing carbon emissions in the coffee sector, and we do this by leading by example. If we can do it, so can anyone else. Our strategy is to build the coffee roasting process into a finished coffee product as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. By using fossil-free roasting technology and ethical and sustainable sourcing practices, we can ensure that our products do not harm the future of the coffee industry. Sustainability is at the heart of our business and the reason why we started developing a new approach to coffee roasting.
We want to promote responsible development in the coffee sector by supporting other players in the industry and showing that coffee has a place in the future. With Paahte, you can engage your entire business in a responsible strategy. The whole idea behind our business is to produce sustainable coffee that allows companies to reduce their emissions while enjoying high quality and tasty coffee! If anything, it's responsible!

Responsibility in a nutshell
Our roasting technology consumes significantly less energy than traditional roasting technology. Our roasting process, powered by fossil-free electricity, reduces emissions by up to 90%.
We work with responsible farmers and certified partners to ensure sustainable coffee production. For example, our producer's "Certifica Minas" certificate guarantees sustainable farming practices. Our coffees are also EUDR-s
Many companies talk about sustainability without any proof or evidence of it. At Paahte, we don't do this. We strive for transparency in all aspects of our business.
For example, we communicated transparently about our technology and its impact on emissions on our technology page. We also communicated openly and transparently with our customers about how much their emissions are reduced with Paahte.
Responsibility is a strategy
Responsible coffee sourcing is the cornerstone of our operations. Together with our partners, we ensure that:
- Coffee is traceable back to the farmers.
- Farmers' sustainable practices are reported annually.
- The production aims to follow responsible practices in the coffee industry.
We also want to support coffee producers to act more responsibly. If our supplier does not meet our sustainability standards, we will change supplier. Our aim is to improve farmers' living conditions and ensure they are paid fairly for the work they do.
Roasting reduces the environmental impact of coffee production in many ways:
- Energy efficiency: our electric roasting technology uses less energy than traditional gas or fuel-powered roasters.
- Reducing our carbon footprint: we use renewable energy and optimise our processes to reduce emissions.
- Water use and waste management: we recycle coffee waste and continuously develop greener solutions.
- Packaging solutions: we are moving towards fully recyclable and biodegradable packaging.
Our short and long-term objectives include:
- Expanding responsible certification (Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance and organic certification).
- A fully automated and carbon neutral roasting process.
- Reducing waste and improving recycling solutions.
We are committed to continuous improvement and invite our customers, partners and employees to join us in supporting our sustainability work. Together, we can create a more sustainable and fairer coffee industry.
At the heart of Paahte is an innovation that takes sustainability standards in coffee production to a new level. The fossil-free roasting technology we have developed is designed to minimise environmental impact while maintaining and improving coffee quality.
By using electric roasting technology and intelligent automation solutions, we significantly reduce energy consumption and emissions compared to traditional methods. We believe this technology will not only help us reduce our carbon footprint, but also inspire the whole industry to adopt more environmentally friendly practices.
